Robert Bealle, an artist from Waldorf, Maryland, submitted the winning entry in the annual contest to select art for the Federal Duck Stamp. The stamp, which sells for $15, raises about $25 million a year to fund the acquisition of wetlands to add to the National Wildlife Refuge System.

Bealle’s winning entry, which depicts an American wigeon, will be on the 2010-11 duck stamp that will go on sale in late June. The stamp is a required purchase for waterfowl hunters 16 and older, but is also purchased by conservationists, stamp collectors and others to support habitat conservation.
