The Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival is the largest wildlife festival in Alaska. It is held in early May during the peak of the shorebird migration. At the height of the spring runoff, kayak races are staged along the Wild Mile of the Swan River, which runs through Bigfork. The competition includes a triathlon that involves a four-mile paddle, 18-mile bike ride and four-mile run. Bigfork pubs and eateries offer entertainment throughout the weekend. MontanaFair is an agricultural celebration in the historic tradition of fairs. It is the region's largest event and was attended by over 243,000 people in 2007. Held at MetraPark in Billings, MontanaFair celebrates for nine days beginning Friday, August 8, 2008. Nearly 10,000 people will earn cash and ribbons for their entries which range from beer, wine, bunnies, crocheting, horticulture, horses, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, petit-point, pickles, to hobbies, and arts and crafts. The Thomas Carnival operates the midway featuring 35 to 40 rides plus games. A shady park for kid's rides accommodates families and the free Kid's World exhibit nearby offers free games and activities for small children. A petting zoo is located in Kid's World as well. Food choices are abundant at the fair featuring the traditional corn dog, BBQ, corn on the cob, 'Vikings On a Stick', fresh lemonade, and beer gardens. Stages around the grounds provide free entertainment including The Kahuna Beach Party each night at the pond in the center of the grounds. Singer, songwriter and performer Gwen Sebastian brings her contemporary country sound to the Coors Stage. Enjoy the Extreme Canines as they perform and involve kids from the audience. That's just some of the great professional talent performing free with gate admission. The best of local talent offers over 80 performances on the Community Stage during the week and the Priefert Draft Horse Hitch is also on display and performs twice daily. There will be three concerts in the Rimrock Auto Arena during the first three opening days as well as arenacross, bull riding, and two nights of rodeo to end the week. The fall race meet will begin at the fair as horse racing with pari-mutuel wagering takes place the final two afternoons of the fair and then continues into September. America's Freedom Festival - Balloon Fest, Provo, UT: July 3-5, 2008
More than 25,000 spectators will have the opportunity to experience 25 of these magical giants close-up as part of the ever popular Balloon Fest. Balloons will be flying each morning from 6:30-8 a.m., July 3-5. The event offers families and children the privilege of walking around the balloons as they inflate.
Keeping in the tradition of the Balloon Fest, pilots will again participate in the Hare and the Hound competition where "hound" balloons try to drop bean bags onto a target laid out by the "hare." They can obtain additional points through jousting as they attempt to pop large balloons with sharp sticks 200 to 300 feet above the ground. Top pilots from around the nation come to compete in this unique and difficult event.

The 38th annual Park City Kimball Art Festival is ranked among the top fine art festivals in the country. The Victorian farmhouse at Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens in Woodland will be open for tours during the annual Lilac Festival. Apple Blossom Run, Wenatchee, WA: April 24-May 04, 2008
The Apple Blossom Run starts prior to the Grand Parade on Saturday at 9:50 a.m. Runners have a choice of four events: 1 mile kids run for grades 1-8, 5K run, 10K run and 5K walk. All events start in the Apple Bowl and follow the parade route down Orondo St. and Wenatchee Avenue. The longer events continue along the riverfront. The Skagit River Poetry Festival, now one of the West Coasts largest celebrations of poetry and poets, will be held May 20-22, 2004 in La Conner, Washington. Founded in 1998, the festival will feature appearances by 25 regional poets and 7 nationally-known headliners. The festival is the capstone public event to the year-long Skagit River Poetry Project which coordinates more than 50 appearances by poets in classrooms throughout rural Skagit County to work one-on-one with students and teachers. Sponsored by seven local school districts, the project is coordinated by a volunteer committee comprised of teachers, principals, superintendents and community members who work together throughout the year. In addition to live music and numerous food, arts and crafts and marine related vendors, the Anacortes Waterfront Festival offers a menu of nautical activities ranging from boat-building for children to boat rides for guests of all ages.
A great new addition to the Festival is the addition of a Quick & Dirty Boat Building Demonstration. Teams of three members will have six hours to build a sea-worthy boat from supplied materials. Once the boats are built there will be a rowing exhibition in the Cap Sante Boat Haven.
