Jeff Kokita gives thumbs up to the Polara Ultimate Straight golf ball. The Polara Ultimate Straight golf ball corrects the number one problem in golf—the slice. That’s not wishful thinking, just a fact. Introduced on the market several months ago, the Polara Ultimate Straight golf ball was developed by a couple of engineers and features patented “self-correcting technology” that corrects hooks and slices up to nearly 75 percent.

According to Joe Wieczorek of The Media Group, Inc., Polara Golf’s PR representative, Polara golf balls have their best performance in reducing slices and hooks when the side-stamp arrow is on top of the ball (as you tee up) and pointed at your target. “The Polara golf balls fly straight because of the dimple design,” says Wieczorek.

Polara’s self-correcting technology employs three variations of dimples. The shallow dimples are designed for lower lift while establishing optimal spin axis. Small dimples inhibit slice and hook-causing sidespin. Deep dimples reduce drag and enhance weight distribution.

The golf balls are not sanctioned by the USGA, but they can be ordered on the Polara website. The retail price tag for the Ultimate Straight is $29.99 and for the Ultimate Straight XS is $39.99. The difference between the two styles besides the price tag: The Ultimate Straight has two-piece construction and the XS is a three-piece ball. The latter will generate additional spin and stopping power around the green. The real beauty of purchasing Polara golf balls is the unconditional return policy. If for some reason you are not satisfied with the Polara golf balls, return the remainder along with your receipt within 30 days and get a full refund. To date, no refunds have been requested. Golf DVDs for Christmas
A and E Networks Home Entertainment has just released two golf DVDs: “Yes Sir! Jack Nicklaus and His Historic 1986 Masters Win” and “Highlights of the 2011 Masters Tournament.”

The 1986 Masters Tournament at Augusta National was the last of Jack Nicklaus’ record 18 majors, and it was arguably the most improbable of those titles and certainly one of the most compelling dramas in the history of sport. For parts of three decades, the Golden Bear dominated golf, winning more major championships than anyone in that era or any era before. But without a major championship trophy to place on the mantle since 1980, the 46-year-old seemed a distant shot to win another Green Jacket. However, with his son, Jack II, as his caddy, this father-son Sunday stroll turned into a breathtaking edge-of-your-seat final round capped by a back-nine 30 that allowed Jack Nicklaus to claim his sixth Masters title and provide the exclamation point on his legacy as golf’s greatest champion.

When Charl Schwartzel birdied the 18th hole of his final round during the 2011 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club, he provided a fitting finish to one of the most thrilling closing days in recent major history. While the first three rounds of the tournament had already provided some magical moments, it was the final day when the fireworks really started, as a host of players were poised to seize the opportunity to wear the most coveted prize in the sport, the Green Jacket.

Each DVD retails for $19.95, and both are available at aetv.com.

Animated Children’s Golf Video Lesson

“ClubsHeads—Let’s Learn the Golf Swing” is an animated instruction video developed for children to encourage their involvement and enjoyment of the game. It was created by 20-year PGA and LPGA golf professional Racquel Huslig. She appears in the video along with the ClubHeads—animated characters bearing the likenesses of a golf ball, driver, pitching wedge, golf bag and putter. They demonstrate the components of golf, covering the rules of the game, course manners and etiquette, proper grip and stance, ball position, pre-shot routine, and the swing. The lessons are accurate, and the lively animation and friendly banter between Huslig and the ClubHeads gang will hold the attention of its young audience throughout this 25-minute video. The video retails for $19.99 plus tax and shipping, and can be ordered online at clubheadsgolf.com.
