Mary Catherine McDonald spends her winters in San Felipe, Mexico, and her summers in La Pine, Oregon, and for seven years traveled between those locations and elsewhere in the U.S. in an RV. During those years, she wrote numerous articles for publications, including RV Life.

She has taken those travel articles and others written over the past decade and created an entertaining book subtitled “Tales from the Restless Traveler.”

McDonald has had an interesting life. She traveled extensively with her parents while growing up and during her 25-year first marriage, which produced eight children. And with her husband, Harry Taylor, who is retired from the Air Force, she has continued her travels, not only in the U.S., Mexico and Canada, but Europe, Asia and Australia, too.

This book, however, is mostly about places in the western part of North America, from Mexico to Alaska. She vividly describes the places she has visited and offers thoughts and advice on such diverse subjects as tailgating, crossing the Canadian and Mexican borders, visiting Legoland and soaking in hot springs. There’s even a chapter entitled,  “The Art of Swatting the Fly in San Felipe.”

McDonald writes clearly and entertainingly of a life filled with the love of travel. Snowbirds Unlimited is a self-published, print-on-demand paperback book available at amazon.com and createspace.com/3457727 for $10.99.
