Day Trips from Portland, Oregon is the newest addition to the Day Trips series, which offers getaway ideas for travelers who wish to venture away from metropolitan areas. The series has previously offered day trips from Seattle, Los Angeles, Sacramento and many other cities.
Kim Cooper Findling, who grew up on the Oregon Coast and has lived in Central Oregon for 16 years, is the author of Day Trips from Portland, Oregon, and she has filled 234 pages with lots of ideas for interesting places to visit that are within an easy drive from Portland. The book includes maps, and describes attractions to see and places to stay, shop and eat.
Among the recommended excursions are visits to wineries in the Willamette Valley, waterfalls along the Columbia River, the slopes of Mt. Hood, and the coastal cities from Astoria to Pacific Beach. Findling outlines more than two-dozen day trips, each with its own rewards.
Day Trips from Portland, Oregon, published by the GPP Travel imprint of Globe Pequot Press, has a cover price of $14.95. For information, visit GlobePequot.com.
