Newmar has introduced a new floor plan for its Canyon Star gas motorhome that addresses the needs of people in wheelchairs.
The motorhome comes with a 48-inch-wide power wheelchair lift with remote control. The floor plan provides a 30-inch path from the front of the coach to the rear bedroom for wheelchair access while the coach is in travel mode (slideouts in). The coach has been designed so that the dinette has space to accommodate a wheelchair, and everything from the convection micro-wave oven to the monitor panel has been placed where it is easily accessible.
The bathroom has a large roll-in shower with a seat, and there are grab assist bars in the shower and around the stool. The medicine cabinet and mirrors have been placed conveniently low.
Newmar reported that numerous retail customers have expressed a desire to purchase a wheelchair-accessible motorhome, prompting its engineering staff to develop the new floor plan, which includes two slideouts. The Canyon Star 3911 has a retail base price of $156,492 before options. For information, visit newmarcorp.com.
