Camping on the Roof

An ARB rooftop tent is one of the options you can add to your new Toyota FJ Cruiser, Jeep Wrangler or other vehicle in the new Xplore Adventure Series from Venchurs Inc.

Various option packages that include special paint, leather and suede interiors and camping equipment are being offered through new car dealers nationwide.

The options include a rooftop tent, refrigerator/freezer, roof rack and other items from ARB Corporation, an Australian company that distributes four-wheel drive accessories through its American headquarters in Renton, Washington.

Venchurs, a Michigan company that has been serving the auto industry for 30 years, puts together kits for four-wheel-drive buyers who want to go beyond the top-of-the-line options offered by vehicle manufacturers with items like heavy-duty bumpers, stainless steel performance exhaust systems, graphite aluminum wheels and off-road tires.

Ron Flint, Xplore program director, said the rooftop tent that is available in the package can be set up in about 10 minutes, and be taken down in about the same time. An aluminum ladder provides access to the roof.

Xplore Adventure Series packages are available for SUVs, trucks and other vehicles from Toyota, Jeep, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Honda, Nissan, Subaru and others. Prices can range from as little as $3,000 to $20,000 or more, depending on the options selected. For information, visit xplorevehicles.com.
