City Creek Center, opening March 22, 2012, will be Utah’s newest retail and dining destination covering two downtown city blocks with a tempting mix of stores and restaurants.

Conveniently located in the heart of downtown, the nearly 700,000-square-foot City Creek Center will feature Nordstrom, Macy’s and approximately 80 stores and restaurants — one third that are new to the market.

The shopping center brings the outdoors inside with two 18-foot waterfalls and a 1,200-foot long re-creation of historic City Creek, the snow-fed stream that once coursed through Salt Lake City, flowing through the Center’s central walkways and plazas. Three unique fountains from the designers of the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas will delight and entertain with musically choreographed animations using the elements of fire and water.

When Mother Nature sweeps through town with one of her famous Utah storms, let it snow! A fully retractable glass roof over the retail galleria means visitors can enjoy the shopping center in any kind of weather. Guests can sail through winter shopping without slipping on ice or coating their shoes with salt thanks to a heated snow melt system located within the shopping center's main pedestrian concourse areas. The system sits beneath the walkways and melts ice and snow as soon as they touch the paver surface.

The shopping center integrates sustainable design with both historic structures and new buildings. City Creek was built on the site of two former shopping malls, and more than 80 percent of the material from the former malls has been recycled or reused as part of an aggressive sustainability program.

Shopping is a top priority for travelers to the area, so City Creek Center has developed several programs and amenities for tourists.

• Concierge-style Customer Service Desk: The Customer Service desk will serve locals and out-of-towners alike with a convenient airline flight monitor, shopping center and area attraction information, Passport to Savings booklets, and more.
