Previewing the 2007 RVs

Many RV manufacturers start rolling out next year’s models long before the end of the current year, so 2007 RVs have begun arriving on dealer lots. Here is a sampling of RVs that have been recently introduced.

Coachmen Freelander
The 2007 Coachmen Freelander Class C motorhomes have been redesigned for 2007 with increased outdoor storage and roomy interiors that are 6 feet, 10 inches tall.

The Freelander is offered in seven floor plans. Several slide models have a large rear storage compartment with three doors for easy access. Outside storage boxes are one-piece rotocast compartments with drains so that they can be hosed out.

Slideouts have a deep 25-inch slide to provide extra room, and several models are equipped with an 80-inch long residential size bed, instead of the traditional 74-inch RV queen.
Coachmen builds the slideout models on a Ford chassis with a 6.8L engine. The non-slideout models come on a Chevrolet chassis, although one floor plan also offers a Ford option.

Damon Outlaw
The Damon Outlaw is a new gas-powered Class A motorhome with an aerodynamic sloped roof and a garage to haul motorcycles, ATVs and other sports gear.

Damon President Bill Fenech said, “There are many things which separate this product from other toy haulers, but the most important ones are the sleeping loft over the garage accessed by a staircase in the living area, a very attractive price point and an exceptional amount of outside storage.”

The toy hauler has a large slideout in the area occupied by a dinette and a 70-inch hide-a-bed with an air mattress. Other features include a large bath with shower and a fully equipped galley with a double-door refrigerator, three-burner stove and microwave oven.

The entertainment center includes a 27-inch LCD television with a VCR/DVD player. The Outlaw also has an exterior entertainment center, patio awning, patio lights, an exterior shower and pass-through basement storage.

The suggested retail base price with a Ford chassis is $114,100. The Outlaw is also available on a Workhorse chassis at an additional charge. For more information, contact Damon, P. O. Box 2888, Elkhart, IN 46515. Phone (800) 860-5658 or visit www.outlawrv.com.

Monaco Safari Simba STS
The 2007 Simba STS from the Safari division of Monaco Coach is built on Freightliner’s new front-engine diesel chassis, with 80 square feet of cargo space in the rear to haul motorcycles, ATVs and other cargo.

The new Simba STS, with a suggested retail price of $142,301, is billed as the industry’s first diesel-powered, rear entrance toy hauler. It is equipped with a Cummins ISB 300 horsepower engine, and has a large hydraulic lift gate that can handle cargo of up to 3,330 pounds.

Pat Carroll, vice president of product development for Monaco, said, “What we are bringing to the market in the Safari Simba STS is the convenience and luxury of a diesel-powered Class A motorhome that is loaded with features and innovations designed for weekend motocross racers, ATV enthusiasts and others with similar toys to haul.”

The rear cargo area contains a non-skid flooring that resists oil and gasoline stains. The cargo room also doubles as a separate sleeping and living area with twin bunk beds that raise and lower from the ceiling and an optional sofa bed and 20-inch LCD television.

The front of the coach has lots of high-end amenities, such as Corian countertops, an optional central vacuum system, and a three-camera rear vision system. A sleeper sofa expands sleeping capacity to eight people. Four bucket seats in the front of the coach allow for a comfortable ride.
