Fan Drive Boosts Fuel Economy
A temperature controlled two-speed fan drive to dramatically improve performance is now available to fit rear radiators on Cummins ISB, ISC and ISL model diesel engines. With a rear radiator diesel pusher, a fixed fan drive turns at the same speed as the engine, drawing 40 to 50 horsepower. But the new Linnig two-speed fan runs at about 20 percent of the engines speed, and automatically steps up to high speed only when the engines computer senses the need for more cooling. The result for the driver is better acceleration, more power, reduced radiator maintenance, much less noise and better fuel economy.
The two-speed fan can be installed on Monaco, Holiday Rambler and Roadmaster motorhomes and some other models. The two-speed fan drive is available at Erics RV Performance Center, 275 S. Seventh, Sequim, Washington. Phone (800) 488-3697 or visit www.ericsrv.com.
Hook Keeps Items Organized
The Clever Hook is a hanging hook that keeps clothes, towels and other items from sliding off after they are hung up. The dual-hook design works on gravity. Place an item on the lower arm of the hook, and gravity pulls the top arm down, holding the item in place.
The Clever Hook, which is mounted with two wood screws, is tested to hold 40 pounds. It is commonly used for jackets, robes, towels, backpacks, camping equipment and tools, and can be used in an RV as well as around the house. The product, distributed by Linden Sweden and manufactured by Linden International, is available in beech wood at a suggested retail price of $17.50 and in plastic at $10. Workhorse Upgrades Transmission
Workhorse Custom Chassis is upgrading its gas-powered 2006 model W20, W22 and W24 platforms for RVs from a five-speed transmission to an Allison six-speed transmission. John Buttrey, vice president of engineering for Workhorse, said the new transmission has two overdrive gears to allow RVers to go down the highway at reduced RPMs, providing a quieter and more comfortable ride.
Workhorse also announced that it will fill its transmissions with Castrol TransSynd synthetic transmission fluid in 2006. This will enable Workhorse to extend the transmission warranty to five years or 200,000 miles, whichever comes first, and to double the maintenance interval for changing transmission fluid to 48 months or 100,000 miles, saving owners time and money on scheduled maintenance.
Ramp System Loads Motorcycles
The Cruiser Ramp from Fast Master Products of Katy, Texas, is a device designed to simplify the chore of loading a full-size motorcycle onto the bed of a full-size pickup truck. The user drives the motorcycle front tire into the locking wheel chock, ties the front wheel down at the axle position and activates a remote hand-held switch to pull the motorcycle into the bed of the pickup.
The pickup loader is powered by a 3,000-pound capacity electric winch with a 3/16-inch wire rope cable. The system also automatically removes the motorcycle from the pickup bed. The tailgate can be closed on a truck with an eight-foot bed so that a travel trailer can be pulled. For information on the system, contact Fast Master Products, P. O. Box 654, Katy, TX 77942. Call (281) 391-6750 or visit www.cruiserlift.com.
Stabilizer Stops Motion
Waynes RV Stabilizer is designed to stop noise and movement when set up underneath nearly any kind of RV, including a motorhome, travel trailer, fifth wheel or pop-up trailer. The device can be used alone or with leveling jacks.
The stabilizer, which is made of lightweight aluminum, is self-leveling and can adjust itself to rugged terrain and the height of the RV. A typical setup will place one stabilizer under the frame near the entrance door and a second one under the bumper. An alternative setup uses four stabilizers, placed at the front, rear and sides of the RV. The product is available at Camping World and some Wal-Mart stores.
