On the Red Rock Golf Trail
Each year, the first Saturday in June in the U.S. is designated National Trails Day. Though the days organizer, the American Hiking Society, didnt have golf in mind, this is still a great time to remind golfers about the countrys many splendid golf trails. One in particular thats gaining in popularity is the Red Rock Golf Trail in St. George, Utah.
According to Roxie Sherwin, Red Rock Golf Trail marketing manager, Utahs only golf trail was formed in 2004 with eight quality golf courses. We actually started the golf trail to increase tourism to the area and put St. George on the map as a golf destination, Sherwin explains. The number of golf rounds have increased dramatically since the inception of the Red Rock Golf Trail.
Located two hours drive northeast of Las Vegas, the St. George courses are known for challenging designs, affordable green fees, and spectacular scenic features, like Zion National Park a few miles away. All of the courses that comprise the Red Rock Golf Trail are within 15 minutes of St. George. Heres a snapshot of what you can expect on the Red Rock Golf Trail.

The 19th Hole (and a few chip shots)
Some things take a little timelike getting your first hole-in-one. In April, 102-year-old Elsie McLean aced a 100-yard, par-3 hole that shed been playing for decades. She became the oldest person to achieve that feat. According to ESPN.com, prior to Elsie acing the fourth hole at Bidwell Park Golf Course in Chico, California, the oldest person recording a hole-in-one was Harold Stilson of Boca Raton, Florida, who recorded his ace on May 16, 2001, at 101 years of age. To celebrate her accomplishment, Elsie appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
