Golf, Scenery Attract RVers

Maybe it’s the high price of gasoline or maybe it’s just the luxurious setting, but more and more visitors to the Spokane RV Resort at Deer Park Golf Club are coming for extended stays this summer.

Bob Fallis, manager of the RV resort, which is located 17 miles north of Spokane, Washington, said longer stays are the rule as people seek to reduce their time on the road—and limit gasoline costs—by spending more time at one vacation destination.

If you are going to vacation for a while in one spot, you want a variety of things to do in an attractive place, that’s what Spokane RV Resort offers. There is, first of all, the location overlooking Deer Park Golf Club, providing great views of the course and its mountain backdrop.

The luxury RV resort is alongside the golf course, an 18-hole links design with bluegrass fairways, bentgrass greens, fountains, lakes and waterfalls. The course includes a 300-yard grass driving range, oversized practice greens, and a full-service pro shop. Everything from a snack to a full meal is available in Divot’s Grill and Sports Bar. There is also a nine-hole putting course.

The resort has 127 RV spaces with about half of them large enough to accommodate big rigs in pads that measure 15 feet by 90 feet, with an additional 510 square feet of patio space. The pads are equipped with full utility hookups, with 20-, 30- and 50-amp service. Each pad also has phone lines and Internet access.

The resort also has its own 3,400-square-foot recreation pavilion, which includes a full kitchen, a patio with a gas barbeque, dance floor, pool table, and state-of-the-art video and stereo equipment.

A partially covered veranda patio adjoins a swimming pool and spa.

All of these amenities have earned Spokane RV Resort the top five-diamond rating from Woodall’s for both facilities and recreation opportunities.

Besides golf and swimming on site, hiking, cycling and fishing are available nearby. Eight lakes are within a 20-minute drive. The town of Deer Park has art galleries and antique shops, and the metropolitan Spokane region has an abundance of shopping centers, museums, theaters, and other attractions, including casinos.

The Deer Park golf course is surrounded by the RV resort and a new housing development called Mountain View Meadows. RV lots will soon be available for sale at the RV resort.

Spokane RV Resort can be reached by driving north from Spokane on scenic Highway 395. For information and reservations, call (877) 276-1555 or visit www.spokanervresort.com.

Cascade Peaks to Open Golf Course

Cascade Peaks Golf Resort will open its new nine-hole golf course this summer, giving people one more reason to visit the scenic resort, which is located in a pristine area along the Cowlitz River in west-central Washington. The resort is a membership park, but is currently open to the general public.

Fishing, hiking, and cycling are just some of the activities available in the vicinity of the resort on scenic State Highway 12, between Packwood and Randle.

Cascade Peaks covers more than 75 acres and has 700 RV campsites, many with full hookups. Some of the sites are in wooded areas shaded from the sun; others are in open meadows. Not only can campers choose whether they want to camp in the sun or shade; they can also opt for a secluded campsite or pick a place with neighbors nearby.

The resort has two heated swimming pools, two saunas, an indoor Jacuzzi, a tanning booth, and a family center with an exercise room. Other amenities include a store, laundry, playgrounds and picnic pavilions. On the weekends, a clown is on hand to entertain children, and the resort offers special activities, such as dancing and karaoke.

There are 20 lakes within 20 miles to provide lots of fishing and boating opportunities. The Cowlitz River also has fishing and rafting, and there are 1,600 miles of hiking and off-road trails in the region.

The new golf course is expected to be ready for play later this month or in early August.
The membership park is affiliated with the Coast to Coast, RPI and AOR campground systems. Coast to Coast has classified Cascade Peaks as a five-star resort.

In addition to standard memberships, the resort offers permanent site memberships for RVers who want the right to keep an RV on the property in perpetuity for weekend and vacation use. The resort location, less than an hour’s drive from Interstate 5, makes it convenient for many RVers.

The location is also near Mt. Rainier National Park and 27 miles from White Pass. The White Pass Scenic Byway extends 58 miles eastward from Packwood through the Gifford Pinchot and Wenatchee national forests. The entire area is rich in wildlife, including deer and elk.
