Holiday Rambler Expands Diesel Models
Holiday Rambler has introduced two new motorhomes for 2006 that offer major advances: a 40-foot Ambassador with a full-wall slideout, and an entry-level Vacationer that carries a diesel engine at a gas model price.
Holiday Rambler is a division of Monaco Coach Corporation, which leads the diesel motorhome field with a 27 percent share of the market. The new entries are aimed at solidifying that position.
The new model in the Ambassador series, the 40 DFD coach, is 40 feet, 10 inches long and has two slideouts. One, on the curb side, extends the bedroom, allowing a queen bed to be mounted crosswise. The other slideout, on the road side, stretches from behind the cockpit through the rear of the coach, creating 24 feet of expanded space.
Jim Mac, Holiday Ramblers director of marketing, said the full-wall slideout accomplishes several things. First, it creates a huge amount of living area, and engenders a feeling of openness and spaciousness throughout the coach. A single, long slideout means that there are no divider walls or bulkheads to reduce the usable space as there would be with a conventional two-slideout design.
In addition, by placing a full-wall slideout on the road side and minimizing the slideout on the curb side, Holiday Rambler has created a design that radiates practicality. The motorhome can be parked at an RV resort without the slideout intruding into the patio area. The design makes the coachs pass-through basement storage easily accessible because there is no slideout to get in the way on the patio side.
Another key feature of the new model is its bath and a half layout. This floorplan puts a large, full master bath at the end of the coach behind the bedroom. Another half bath is placed in front of the bedroom. This arrangement protects privacy in the master suite and makes the half bath easily accessible as families travel with children or entertain friends.
Added to the feeling of spaciousness is a seven-foot interior height. Like all Holiday Rambler Class A motorhomes for 2006, the Ambassador 40 DFD features a Panaview one-piece windshield.
Ambassador coaches are built on the Roadmaster raised rail chassis that features eight outboard mounted air bags and eight gas-powered shock absorbers for superior ride and handling. The coach is powered by a Cummins ISC 330 engine.
Suggested base retail price for the Ambassador 40 DFD is $214,513.
For those who are seeking a smaller, less expensive motorhome but still want a diesel engine, Holiday Rambler has introduced a new diesel version of its Vacationer motorhome starting at $135,000.
Pat Terveer, national sales manager, said With the introduction of the Holiday Rambler Vacationer Diesel, we are bringing the Holiday Rambler quality and diesel pusher performance to a whole new price point.
The Vacationer Diesel is offered in two floorplans, both 34 feet in length and each with two slideouts. The model is built on a Roadmaster custom chassis with a 300 horsepower Cummins engine and a five-speed Allison 1000 transmission.
The Vacationer Diesel comes with full body paint with vinyl graphics, a 5.5-kilowatt diesel generator, raised panel hardwood cabinets, satin nickel finishes, and a long list of amenities and options.
